My name is Laura. I'm an Auntie to two special nieces, a daughter, a sister, a former education counselor, and most importantly a believer in Christ that I depend on daily for hope, help, and my health.
HISTORY OF MEDICAL EVENTS.
Since last September 2015, I went to the ER after nearly fainting while driving followed by appointments with 8 different specialists from UCLA Health to USC Keck Medical with no consensus in a diagnosis. Conventional medications were being prescribed which caused brain fog, loss of hair and weight, memory loss, nausea, fatigue, and dizziness. My body was rejecting most of the medications. Most days I could barely stand for 45 to an hour at any given time. I managed 2-3 hours of sleep per night. I experienced anxiety attacks and depression mood swings due to the physiological symptoms.
THANKSGIVING IN TRIALS.
My roommate, friends and family sacrificially showed more care and love than I ever could imagine from meal deliveries, texts of prayer/verses, simple quiet companionship, laundry assistance, and organizing a Sweet 16 party for my niece in which I was unable to attend.
PRESENT DAY.
I have lost 40 lbs. since last October and have been seeing a functional doctor the last five months which determined that I have complex endocrine system issues targeted to thyroid disorder conditions, adrenal fatigue, cortisol imbalances, chronic headaches, and other unexplained symptoms. I've had 6 rounds of extensive blood lab tests in the last two months and my levels are out of range at the lowest levels and continue to decline. In the last month, I've had medication side effects affecting my heart. My doctor ordered me off all medications so I no longer have any support for my thyroids and adrenal system. We have to start from a clean slate again.
FUNDING THE NEXT STEP.
During my time at Children's Hunger Fund, I met two dear friends and colleagues, Holly Worsham who suffered for years with misdiagnosed Crohn's Disease from her traditional doctors and Mariann Stopyra, previous patients who referred me to Sanoviv Medical Institute. (Click on highlighted hyperlink to learn more). They are doing very well, living now healthy and happily! My good friend Elisabeth Effinger was also a patient and speaks highly of Sanoviv, its doctors, and home care after you leave.
HOW THE MONEY WILL BE USED.
I will be seeking treatment from this highly reputable and functional licensed integrative medicine hospital located 40 miles south of San Diego (Rosarito Beach, Mexico), since the current traditional treatments are not helping and my health is, in fact, worsening. Most insurances do not cover this type of care including mine. I will need to stay for a minimum of 4 nights/5 days (7 highly recommended), primarily for diagnostic exams, detox, treatment, and nutrition care education.
I hope to raise the money in time so that I can start treatment in the month of December or January, find the "root of the problems", and be work ready again. The cost of the integrative medical team care and tests, cardiovascular package, medications and supplements, the travel and stay is minimum $7,500. The continuing costs of further care are unknown, but will be long-term since my disease is only treatable, not curable. This will be of a great help since I'm currently unable to work.
THANK YOU!
I fully trust the Lord in the outcome of the results even if it means not going to Sanoviv and living daily with a thankful heart serving him. I thank each person who reads this and continually will be praying. For those who can only give as little as $5 or whatever amount you consider thank you! And for those of you who wish to donate through other means than go fund me.com please message me either through Facebook or email and I'll be happy to assist you with donations.
