Laura’s Chicago Triathlon Fundraiser

Hi my name is Laura and on August 27th 2023, I’ll be headed for Chicago’s lakeshore to take part in my first Olympic distance triathlon. What does that entail? I’ll be swimming approx. 1 mile (1.5km) in the lake, then cycle 25 miles (40km) along Lakeshore drive. Ending with a 6 mile (10km) run near Soldier field. I threw my hand at the Sprint distance last year so this year I’m going for the whole hog. I am so excited to give this personal challenge my all and I am doing it for a great cause too.

I am raising funds for the wonderful Barretstown. Barretstown is a specially-designed camp in County Kildare, Ireland, that provides Therapeutic Recreation programs for children with serious and often life-threatening illnesses and their families. I have volunteered in the past at the camps and benefited hugely from being a part of the magic they create for the campers.
