Laura Walton's Battle with Cancer

Donation protected
As many of you know two weeks ago, Laura started experiencing shortness of breath, severe lower right pelvic pain and started becoming faint. After undergoing an ED, CAT scan and ultrasound in the emergency room, the doctors discovered a 10cm x 10cm (softball size) mass on her right ovary taking up most of the space in her pelvis. The mass was cutting off blood supply to her ovary intermittently and pressing on her bladder, resulting in excruciating pain. Laura underwent surgery on Monday the 18th at Vanderbilt University in Nashville to remove the mass. Due to the size of the mass, the surgeon was not able to do the surgery laparoscopically and had to make a small incision below her belly button to open her abdomen. The surgery resulted in a lot of physical pain and will end up being a 4-6 week healing process. As if Laura hasn't been through enough in her life with her mom's battle with cancer, the results of the pathology tests came back with news all of us prayed we wouldn't hear. Laura was diagnosed with an immature teratoma, a rare form of ovarian cancer on Monday evening. The stage is yet to be determined as the surgeon is awaiting the results to see how far the cancerous cells spread. Laura will have to complete several rounds of chemotherapy once the abdominal surgery is healed in about a month. While prayer is all Laura is asking for during this difficult time, medical burdens will soon arrive. She has yet to determine if she will be undergoing chemotherapy in St. Louis or Nashville, but travel expenses will also be needed.  She will not be able to work in the ICU at Vanderbilt for a while during the recovery time.  If you are able and willing to donate, please use this Go Fund Me to contribute to Laura and the Walton Family at this time of need. Laura appreciates all of your generosity and is determined to win this battle once and for all!  If we could all have the passion for life that Laura has, we could rule the world!

I will use this page to give updates as well from Laura, as she would like to keep everyone in the know.  The more support and prayers, the better!  Thanks!
