Laureate student needs your help

Introduction:

Hello, my name is Luan Fontes, a 24-year-old Brazilian student currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Architecture at the Porto School of Architecture in Portugal. I'm reaching out to seek your support in my journey to complete my education and achieve my dreams.

I am the primary beneficiary of this fundraising effort, but your contribution will also support the dreams of a young man striving to create a better future for himself and his community.

Why I'm Fundraising:

I am fundraising because I am at a critical juncture in my education. Despite numerous challenges and the financial support of my mother, I've reached a point where I can no longer cover the costs of my studies and living expenses. This situation has left me in urgent need of financial assistance to finish my last year of university.

Background:

I grew up in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and tragically lost my father when I was just 2 years old. Despite these hardships, I became the first in my family to attend university, driven by a deep desire to improve our circumstances and achieve my dreams.

Opportunities:

Throughout my academic journey, I have seized incredible opportunities. I participated in prestigious firms programs like Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Norman Foster Foundation, and the Bjarke Ingels Group in New York. I have also had interviews/offers from top-tier architectural firms such as Foster + Partners, OMA, MVRDV, Kengo Kuma, Kéré Architects, and Henning Larsen. Use of Funds:

The funds will be used to pay for my annual rent of 6300 euros and my university tuition fees, which total 4906.26 euros. These expenses cover overdue tuition and the costs for 2024, ensuring that I can complete my degree and continue building my career in architecture.
