Dear friends and family of Lauren Halyak,
Many of you may already have heard of the recent health crisis having fallen on Lauren’s life . Back in December, right before Christmas, she was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. After many doctors’ visits and consultations, PET scan and CT scans, and blood work, this is what Lauren has been informed -
Lauren will need to be treated with chemo and radiation to hopefully remove the cancer which is at its early stages. Prior to the start of the treatment, she will need to have a port surgically implanted which will be the main feed for her chemo therapy. This will be performed on an outpatient surgery. Both chemo and radiation treatments begin about January 29th. She will continue having many doctors visits and appointments in-between this time. The treatments will cause her many side affects which will affect her normal quality of life and deter her from her regular job, leading up to as long as six months.
With each doctor’s visit, it is dawning on Lauren, the enormity of what this will mean to her financially. Even with her current insurance coverage, she is anticipating a huge financial loss from her deductibles and through reduced work hours during her treatments. Having been a single mom since Rachel’s childhood, she has worked extremely hard at trying to save for her future, which seems to diminish in one blink of an eye at this moment. We, her loving friends and family, would like to reach out to everyone at this great time of financial need to help reduce that financial stress which could ruin her.
We are asking for any amount of financial help you are able to pitch in. No matter how little or how great, every bit will be helpful and put to much use. The sooner we can start this process, the quicker we can help alleviate one more anxiety from Lauren as she needs to focus on the most important part of this journey - the CURE. Our biggest hope is for the treatments to cure the cancer and have no further complications.
We thank each and every one of you who have asked about her, prayed for her, and offered a hand to her during this time. Please keep your continued prayers flowing!
