Hello, my name is Mikaela. A friend of mine, Lauren Kial, is in need of help.
She was in an abusive marriage with the father of her two children. During the marriage there was significant and repetitive emotional, psychological, sexual and financial abuse. Unfortunately, when she was finally able to leave in June of 2021, it did not stop. She has been working her butt off to pay for everything to be able to fight this man in court, but he is taking her for every penny she is worth. This woman is strong, a fighter, but even the best of fighters can only last so long alone in the ring.
In 2017, she started her own photography business to start making her own money and grew it into the full-time income she needed to leave the marriage. She has now taken on two additional nanny jobs as well as working over full time in her photography business to make ends meet.
This man has admitted to raping her in her sleep, yet remains free today. She has multiple handwritten confessions that he wrote to Lauren to manipulate her into not requesting a divorce, and to “try again” in 2018. He has admitted to the rape as recently as July 2021, but as soon as Lauren reported the event, he has recanted everything. It has now turned into the classic “He Said/She said,” and we all know how well those pan out for victims in court.
In March of 2021, Lauren and her ex-husband entered into a verbal agreement to end the attorney battles and agreed to a plan. Lauren followed their agreement which included dropping her lawyer; however, her ex did not. She is now without a lawyer and representing herself in court. She is in desperate need of financial help to pay court fees, retain a lawyer to finalize the divorce and prosecute him for rape.
This is not the only Go Fund Me you will see with a mother and her children in need, but I ask you to give whatever you can and share to spread the word because unfortunately this type of situation is all too common. We all say we want to stand with victims and support victims; well, here is a brilliant opportunity to do just that. To show, at least this one victim, that she is not alone. That her friends will carry her when she can’t run any longer and that their friends will reach out to their friends and so on.
