Lauren Palacios Needs Our Help During Cancer Fight
Donation protected
Lauren Palacios needs our help as she does the hard work of fighting cancer. On January 30th Lauren (age 28), went to the ER with what she thought were swollen lymph glands causing difficulty with her breathing. Fortunately she insisted on a CT scan as this was her second trip to ER within two weeks for these symptoms. The CT scan showed a mass that was pressing on her windpipe and large vein going from her brain to heart. Lauren was admitted to the hospital immediately and further testing showed that she has primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma cancer.
Before her diagnosis, Lauren was renting her own apartment and had just started working as a TSA officer at a local airport, a career path she was truly excelling at. Now with the current treatment plan of chemotherapy one full week out of every four weeks for the next six months, and the side effects that come along with these treatments, Lauren has had to take an unpaid leave from her job and has moved in with her mom Marlene (who has been by Lauren’s side since her diagnosis and is her main caregiver) and step dad Alexis as she is too physically weak to live on her own right now.
Without a paycheck coming in, Lauren is incurring many out of pocket and non-reimbursable expenses related to her treatment such as medical costs not covered by insurance including co-pays, deductibles, and insurance premiums, over the counter medications and supportive medical care costs, travel costs to and from her many appointments, food, rent, and other bills and cost of living expenses.
While Lauren is showing incredible resilience and humor, and has the emotional support of family and friends, cancer is scary and brings many day to day challenges. Side effects from the chemotherapy are intense and miserable and come on quickly, and Lauren is already experiencing a number of these including intense joint and muscle pain, extreme debilitating fatigue, muscle weakness, nausea, poor appetite, painful mouth sores, and
Lauren and her family are working around the clock to help her get rid of the cancer and heal.
As friends who love this family dearly, we want to give them the support to do this without concerning themselves with the worry of how to tackle mounting expenses.
Your contribution will have a significant impact on supporting Lauren and helping to ease the burden of this challenging time, and is appreciated beyond words.
