Lauren & The Bowel Movement ♥️

I hope you all are keeping well.

As you may be aware, this year I decided to raise a little bit of money for a good friend and a charity that’s so close to her heart, The Bowel Movement.

My friend, Lauren, is an unbelievable woman to say the least! She is an inspiration to everyone around her! No words will ever show what a truly inspiring woman she is and her journey so far. Challenge after challenge, Lauren, with her family and friends by her side, have faced things head on with so much positivity.

Her story still continues to be written, but it all started in the summer of 2020 when Lauren started to notice changes in her bowel habits. During that year Lauren and Kris (Lauren’s husband) had the most beautiful news. Lauren had became pregnant. Lauren was told that her symptoms she was experiencing were down to the pregnancy, which she initially accepted. However, at the start of 2021 the symptoms started to worsen. Again, Lauren was told that her symptoms were down to the pregnancy, she was given stimulant laxatives and sent home once more. It had got to a point where Lauren and Kris had to call an ambulance. 24 hours after getting to hospital, Lauren had to have surgery and had a stoma fitted. The surgeon told her that she was extremely close to her bowel completely rupturing, which would have killed her. This was also a time where Lauren was told that there was a chance of cancer. Furthermore, Lauren and Chris were also told of the devastating news that their baby had not made it. Amongst all of this sadness, Lauren was also told that she did have cancer and that she had to start radio-chemotherapy.

Since these unbelievably tragic series of events, Lauren and her family have continued to experience many highs and lows. If you would like to find out more about Lauren’s journey in her own words, then please follow this link to her social media:

I will be running the Chester Marathon on Sunday 6th October with the aim of continuing to raise some money for Lauren, her family and The Bowel Movement. If I can cross the finishing line of this event, this would complete the Chester Triple. Alongside raising money, I am hoping that I can add to all the amazing work that Lauren and the other The Bowel Movement ambassadors do in raising awareness of the terrible disease of bowel cancer. The total amount of donations will be split between Lauren and The Bowel Movement charity.
