Lauren Worley Medical Expenses

On Dec 16th around 9:35 pm, Lauren Worley our oldest was riding home with her boyfriend Micah Underwood. When they were struck head on by what now appears to be a drunk driver. Our lives are forever changed. Both were airlifted to Roanoke memorial. Mica suffered broken leg and arm. His surgery last night to repair was a success. Praise Jesus. Unfortunately Laurens side of the car was so mangled the jaws of life had to remove her. Mandy Trent Worley and I were on the horrific scene because of life 360. Knowing there is no way she could have survived. The first responders from Patrick county were incredible the got her out stabilized her and he got her on the helicopter to Roanoke trauma center. Lauren suffered severe forehead brain trauma, broken jaw, her carotid artery was severely damaged, broken femur, hip, bruised lungs and her spleen was cut. Praying she would survive the night our prayers were answered. Praise Jesus! Yesterday the Nero surgeons performed a 5 hour surgery to try to repair the damage to skull and brain. Surgery was a success. Praise Jesus! It has now been 36 hours and the doctor has informed Mandy and I of the long road ahead. Unfortunately it isn’t going to be an easy one. They will keep her sedated until brain swelling subsides could take weeks. So far her swelling has been maintained with medicine Praise Jesus!! if it worsens they would have to operate again. With the damage to artery doctors are worried about strokes so that is being monitored. Reality is this road is a long one, doctors don’t like to give false hope. Lauren is still critical and will be here for many weeks possibly months of hospital stay. But we will not know the extent of brain damage until the swelling subsides. Right now Mandy and I are taking this day by day. We have been overwhelmed by the prayers and support from our friends and family from the Floyd and Patrick communities and Facebook friends all over us. Our hope is this is their testimony one day! Jason Underwood can tell you these 2 kids are special kids they read 5 pages of the Bible via FaceTime which each other every night. Very much in love. Both of these kids were devout Christians. We ask for continued prayers and we love you all.
