Laurie Ball-Kiser has been active in the Hermiston community for over 40 years. She was a teacher and sub in the Hermiston and McNary schools for 30+ years. However she is best known for her involvement in the Community Fellowship Dinners on Thanksgiving and Christmas days. Laurie took over the tremendous task of organizing and leading this huge project of serving dinner to over 700 people on each holiday for the past 35+ years!
Now Laurie and her husband Joe need your help Hermiston. Last September Laurie was diagnosed with a large kidney stone and a very serious urinary tract infection. While in the hospital and/or rehab she suffered at least one stroke, possibly two.
After a lengthy stay in a recovery home she was sent home where she was able to spend 4 weeks in November and December. Laurie has taken a turn for the worse. She was transferred to ICU at Kadlec with yet another serious infection and the large kidney stone. She has been moved to a regular room but is still in very serious condition.
This hard-working couple is facing over $20,000 in medical debt after insurance covered its responsibility. If you can help in any way, either large or small they would be very grateful. Every dollar helps!!! Laurie and Joe give so much to others in this community, but they are going through a rough period right now. We are hoping good people like you, can help relieve some of the financial burden so they can both focus on what’s most important, Laurie’s health.
