Help Laurie Mackie Reach her Goal

My name is Carl, and I'm fundraising to help my wife continue her education and reach a well-deserved goal. In 2009, she was diagnosed with a severe, chronic, and progressive illness that left her disabled. Instead of giving up, when well enough, she returned to school determined to give herself the shot of becoming what she's always wanted to be - a writer.

It's been a tough go for her, interrupted by flare-ups and the limitations of her illness. Now, so close, in her final year of the University of King's College/Dalhousie University's Master of Fine Arts Program, she's run out of funding opportunities. I'm a retired self-employed trim carpenter with health challenges of my own, and my wife's Canada Pension Plan Disability doesn't pay well either.

She's an "A" student and earns high praise from her mentors. The book she's writing for the program is about half complete. Her advisor says it's an important story. Laurie tells me it's about women, those who live in lonely places and keep their secrets close.

Though she has some money saved, it's not enough, and she's really afraid she'll have to withdraw from the program. This is a woman who's spent her life doing for me, her kids, her friends, and everyone else, never for herself. She's sixty-four now, still battles her illness and is still determined to go forward. There's nothing I want more for her than to make this happen. Any donations you make will pay for her upcoming semester's tuition fees and travel costs for her mandatory residence attendance in Halifax this summer.

I'm sorry to have to ask, but please help me make this happen for her.
