Laurie's Fight Against Cancer
**Update**
In 2016 we first started this go fund me page to help support Laurie through her fight with breast cancer. We were overwhelmed with the support of everyone around us. Since that time Laurie has been fighting this disease every step of the way. She's had some good years and some bad years. But all years were spent being positive and surrounded by her family. There was never a time you didn't see Laurie at one of her grandchildren's activities, playing kickball, enjoying the outdoors and even hiking a mountain or two. Laurie showed us all what it meant to put others first and how to stay positive even in the darkest of times.
In December 2019 we received the news that her treatment is no longer working. Laurie will now be starting hospice at her daughters house. This in no way means she is giving up her fight, everyone close to her knows she is way too stubborn for that. This just means that she will be able to live her best life with her family for the time she has left.
Laurie would love to stay at her daughters house for as long as possible. Unfortunately hospice does not provide a lot of home care. We are now looking at providing in home care for Laurie, which is very costly. We have opened up her go fund me page again for anyone that is able to help with the cost of care and any other expenses that come up along the way.
We are so thankful to everyone that wants to support her and has supported her. Whether you donate $1 or $100, we are forever grateful and thankful.

From 2016, our original call for help
In 2001 Laurie was first diagnosed with breast cancer, 11 years later her breast cancer returned and metastasized to her bones. After years of keeping the cancer at bay with various treatments she began having frequent headaches and numbness in her head and face. The doctor confirmed that the cancer has traveled to the lining of her brain. She has just finished her 1st round of radiation. The doctor said the tumor is still there but looks better. In November she will have another MRI and a spinal tap and decide what needs to happen next. There is also the very real possibility that other tumors will appear as time goes on. Although there is no cure for the cancer she has and we are unsure how long she has left she manages to keep a positive attitude, has her hope in God and is ready to fight this disease as long as she can.
Our goal for this funding is to provide Laurie with the ability to create special memories with her children and grandchildren as well as the rest of her family and friends. So she can focus on staying strong, fighting this disease and spending every second doing what she loves and has always wanted to do.
Since she is no longer working at Clinton Dry Cleaners and won't be able to get onto disability until January, it will also help offset everyday bills, medical bills and gas expenses traveling back and forth for treatments. Laurie has always done so much for everyone else and we would love to return the favor and show her just how much she is loved and cared about.
A dedicated mother and grandmother, Laurie spends all of her time with her children and grandchildren. You can always find her at one of their soccer games or school functions, taking them to the park, running around the yard, letting them "help" her bake, taking them overnight and creating memories and enjoying every moment of it. Being a mother and grandmother is what she has always wanted to be and when you think about what a grandparent should be (selfless, fun, caring, loving, engaged) that is what Laurie is to her grandchildren and children.
We are so thankful to everyone that wants to support her and has supported her. Whether you donate $1 or $100, we are forever grateful and thankful.
