Laurie's fight with cancer

As some of you may know, last week we received some of the most devastating news one could get. My mom Laurie, was Diagnosed with late-stage Ovarian cancer. Unfortunately, Ovarian cancer often has no symptoms in the early stages, and often goes undetected until it has spread within the pelvis, belly and other surrounding organs. In moms’ case, it has done just this. Mom will begin receiving Chemotherapy here in a few weeks. She will be getting a combination of two types to help fight this, along with surgery. This is called an Invasive debunking regimen. She will be treated with 3-4 rounds of chemo first to shrink the existing tumors. Then, surgery will be done to remove the bulk of what is left of the tumors , followed by another 3-4 rounds of chemo to fight off the remain cells. We have a very long journey ahead of us! Laurie does have an option to use and wear what is called a Cooling Cap during her chemotherapy treatments. This will help preserve her hair so the loss isn’t as extensive, it will help save 50-70% of her hair! Which is one of her biggest concerns. With the chemo medications she will be receiving, she will begin losing her hair after just 1 treatment. This funding will go directly towards the cap as it is an out of pocket option and no insurance will cover it as of yet. (Which breaks my heart!) Knowing there will be financial hardships to come, anything after the cap cost will go towards helping with her medical bills and all other expenses as Laurie will be out of work due to surgeries and treatments. Bills are the very last thing I want her to be worried about! I figured if I could help remove ONE stressor for her, I will do all that it takes to do so! Thank you everyone!
