LAWSUIT CHALLENGING N.M. GOVERNOR'S SHUTDOWN

NEW MEXICO'S TYRANT OF A GOVERNOR MUST BE STOPPED
I am an attorney in Silver City, New Mexico. I have lived and had a law office in this area for thirty years. I am representing the Jalisco Cafe which opened their restaurant for dine-in in May before the Governor said it was okay. As a result the State suspended Jalisco's restaurant license and sued and tried to shut them down and have the court order Jalisco to pay substantial fines. We won at our first hearing as the judge ordered the State to reinstate Jalisco's license. But the case is ongoing. The judge did that in significant part because the Governor had made a new order after Jalisco was sued allowing restaurants to have dine in customers again starting June 1.
A few days ago, even though covid death rates are plumeting the governor made a new order for restaurants to close for dine in again. As if she hadn't done enough damage already !
She is using her "public health emergency powers" to run our state into the ground without any real scientific or, in my opinion, legal basis and needs to be stopped.
We need money for court costs expert witnesses who can show a judge how business closures are not needed or helpful and how there is no actual public health emergency at this point (if there ever was one).
I also need some compensation as this sort of suit requires long hours of legal research and brief-writing among other things. I am charging $90 an hour for my time on this case which is about one third of normal attorney's fees.
I have seen the effects of the governor's shutdown and mask orders on my community and it is terrible. Our best restaurants shutdown, some for good. Small businesses shut down for good. People unable to see each other's faces and be friendly. People afraid of each other. And all for nothing. There is no epidemic in Silver City or Grant County. 24 cases who have all recovered and not one death in our county of 30,000 !!! Lujan Grisham must be stopped !
The money itself is important, but it is also the emotional and spiritual support from people willing to fight this mania that is crucial.
Previously this gofundme mentioned a lawsuit I was going to file. I have decided to postpone that indefinitely to focus on the Jalisco case.
One bit of good news is that the N.M. Restaurant Association which had previously tried to work with the governor is now filing suit against her !!!
