Lawsuit to Reinstate Florida FPUC Benefit

As of 8/30/21 - Judge Layne Smith denied our motion for temporary injunction. We, the people, will be filing an appeal within the next 5 business days. This means we must adjust our fundraising goal to cover rising court costs and additional attorneys fees.
--
We have decided to file a lawsuit against the early termination of federal unemployment benefits (FPUC). Our governor has decided to ruthlessly deprive us of much-needed unemployment assistance, during a global pandemic.
We have an amazing team of attorneys that will represent us - the same team who filed a Class Action lawsuit against the State of Florida last year over the epic failures of our broken UI system.
To pay for attorneys fees and court costs, we need to raise money! With your generous donations we can pay the attorneys that will fight to reinstate the $300/week FPUC benefits. Keep in mind that these are the same attorneys who fought against DEO and the State of Florida pro-bono last year. This is our last attempt to keep our benefits until September 6th as dictated by the American Rescue Plan.
Please know that by donating, you have done a great deed to help thousands of families in Florida.
You are giving many families a fighting chance to keep their lights on, food on the table, and so much more. We didn’t choose to leave our jobs. We were forced to leave our jobs, close our businesses, and remain quarantined in our homes, like so many across the country. As a consequence, many of us are still struggling to find suitable work that will get us back to our pre-pandemic lives.
We have protested, emailed, signed petitions, told our stories, and now, this is our last chance to keep our benefits. This is money that has been allocated to us by the federal government. We ask you to stand with us in our fight for our rights and our livelihood; as we relentlessly speak up and stand up to reclaim our benefits.
Attorneys Scott Behren, Gautier Kitchen, and Marie Maddox will be billing me directly (Vanessa Brito). Not a penny will go to me. Contributions will fully be used to cover legal and attorneys' fees.
Should any surplus funds remain, the legal team will instruct #2MillionStrongFL and Vanessa Brito how to distribute them to an appropriate charity.
