Lay A Beloved Writer, Friend, and Partner to Rest

Eric Webb was a beloved friend to many, a 44-year-old writer, artist and self-proclaimed nerd for music, film, art and all things science-related. In the past month, Eric's health took an unexpected downturn that he was unfortunately unable to pull out of. We are raising money to pay for his final medical expenses and fund a service to celebrate his life and all that he meant to us.

Anyone who spent even a small amount of time with Eric knows how special he could make you feel. He always had the perfect advice for how we could improve ourselves and fulfill all of our dreams, even if we weren't ready to hear it. He helped all of us -- whether we were improv comedians, horror artists, musicians, rocket scientists, YouTubers or programmers -- realize our potential by giving us a pep talk while we were down, celebrating our triumphs and providing practical, actionable and unique insight on how to grow our skills.

Eric never had an easy path in life. Considering that Eric was a gay man who lived through the AIDS crisis and faced intense homophobia in his home state of Oklahoma, as well as someone who was disabled in a country where the ill are treated as inferior sub-humans, he would have had every excuse to be a cynical doomer. Despite all of this, Eric was a person who never let tragedy define him; he embodied the spirit of pride by being the most passionate, joyful and loving person we have ever met. He always had the loudest laughter at a comedy show, the most tears at a sad movie and a wholly engaging perspective on art.

While we would like to take this time to remember the joyful, passionate, beautiful and unique person Eric was, we, unfortunately, have to raise money to fund the medical expenses leading up to his passing and the bill for the mortuary services. In his final weeks, Eric's partner and family spent more than $5,000 out of their pockets to give Eric the best chances to make a full recovery. This money covered ambulance rides to and from the hospital, as well as all of the equipment required to take care of him at home. The remaining funds will cover any costs incurred for his passing in addition to his memorial services. We cannot express enough gratitude for any amount that you can contribute.
