Help us lay our beloved Christine McMillan to rest
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rayna and I’m fundraising for my mom, Christine McMillan’s funeral. My mom was born October 11th 1968, and passed away on January 7th 2023. My Mother was many things. Strong, funny, caring, and anyone who knew her knows how fun she was to be around. She went through many things and didn’t have it easy these past couple of years. But you’d never be able to tell by the way she lit up any room with her smile and positivity.
She’s inspired me in many ways in life, and has been through many trials and tribulations. From her being diagnosed with Breat cancer to losing her mom, my grandmother in 2021. Our family has seen much hardship throughout the past couple of years. Medically, financially, mentally and emotionally. Although my mom didn’t give up or fail to try and push through it all. In early November of 2020 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She began her chemotherapy in December and I could tell the tole it took on her physically and mentally. Although she pushed through with God on her side not only for herself but for the sake of the family. Shortly after in March of 2021, my papa Ardie McMillan suffered a horrible work injury. He was on the job and fell from the top of a ladder. This resulted in extreme near-death injuries and a lot of head trauma. Eventually also causing the first stages of dementia to be triggered by the brain damage. Even throughout my moms chemotherapy she stepped up extremely to help my nana. From keeping up with my papas recovery, to bills, the house, and my nanas well being while my papa was recovering in the hospital. In late May of 2021 he returned home from the hospital but sadly could not return to work. Yet he received no retirement funds or workers compensation even though the injury that occurred on that job is what sent him into retirement. So I’m sure you can understand how this hurt our family financially, and hurt him mentally as well. My mom still maintained to keep love alive as much as possible in the household while finishing her chemo around the end of June of 2021. In July she had her surgery to rceive a double mastectomy and made it through successfully. She began radiation around the middle of august and everything was progressing really well. We then sadly suffered the heartbreaking sudden loss of her mom, my nana Susie McMillan. This was the one that slowly broke all of us. I could see both my mom and papa sinking into depression, I personally was as well and being only 19 I had no idea what to do to make it better. Because of my moms mental and medical state, as well as my papas financial and mental state we struggled to pull together the funds to provide a funeral for my nana. My mom finished her radiation and was diagnosed cancer free in February of 2022. And we finally got my nana buried on April 20th of 2022. We were grateful to finally provide a service for my nana and this also served as closure for the family. We carried on and my mom was actually going to go in for her final reconstructive surgery on the 30th of January this year. Thursday night she was suddenly struck by a car as she was trying to cross the street. She was unresponsive in a coma until declared brain dead at 3:58 on Saturday January 7th. Ever since I first got to the hospital the night of the accident, my head has been spinning to figure out everything for the organization of my moms funeral service and burial.
It’s only me and my papa now and with our current financial situation as well as his mental state, I know it’s going to be my responsibility to step up and take care of her funeral. As well as taking care of me and my papas well being moving forward.
My mother was a strong fighter and a beautiful soul truly. And I would appreciate any and every single donation to provide her with a beautiful sending off into the next life. I would love to be able to take this off of my papas shoulders and help him as much as I can financially with her funeral.
The funds we are assisted with and provided by anyone who donates will go towards everything from the casket and her presentation preparation, to the service, burial, hearse transportation etc.
Every last penny will be extremely helpful and put to use for my moms service.
I want to say thank you in advance to anyone who makes any donation whatsoever or even reposts to reach more people. You are truly a blessing and I thank God for using you as a vessel to help me with this. May God bless all of you, family and friends. Thank you truly for any assistance with laying my mom to rest.
