Lay to rest Daryl W. Drake (aka Unkie D)

Donation protected
Hello, I am writing on behalf of the Drake family and their struggle to lay their "Pops" to rest. I know the Drake family is way too prideful to ask for help. So, I have a mission to relieve some of the many burdens they have endured this past month.

This time last month, Daryl was playing with his grandchildren and working a full-time job. He had been sick but thought it was just a typical illness. His children forced him to be seen at the hospital. That night changed their lives, forever laying out a number of obstacles to overcome. In true Drake fashion, they came together to tackle them. They found out; he had stage 4 lung cancer, phenomenon, and had a heart attack and stroke, making him blind in one eye the night before. In true Drake fashion, they came together to tackle them. The boys never left him alone, taking shifts and doing whatever sacrifice was needed to make their dad well. The decision and overall experience were life altering. At one point, everyone felt they had beaten the odds, and Daryl was able to come home. Short lived, he ended up going back to the hospital. The challenges became graver, but optimism did not falter. Daryl started radiation and tried to stay as positive as he could. It soon started turning directions, and Daryl ended up coming home on hospice and, on Mother's Day, took his last breath with his family holding him. The prior month has drained the boys physically, emotionally, and financially, all worth it for their best friend, but are now clueless how to honor their dad.

A couple of years earlier, Daryl left his job, which had always had benefits, including life insurance, to follow his dream and start a company with his son. (which did not have life insurance). Daryl is someone who never asked for help and would give his last dollar to a stranger. No one is ready for their time to go or expects the expense that a loss like this has. Always take this lesson have no regrets.

Daryl was the most kind, funny, witty man you would ever meet. I know people say that all the time, but I would challenge anyone to find a person who has a bad thought towards him. He had no money saved up. Therefore, pride needs tossed aside to ask for any help possible. Thank you in advance
