Layne’s medical expenses for Cancer treatment.
Donation protected
Hi my name is Maggie, I am Layne’s sister and we are hoping to raise some money for medical expenses.
Layne underwent what was supposed to be a routine operation on December 7th at Trinity Hospital in Minot to remove what they thought was a Lipoma or a Cyst on his back. It became apparent during surgery that this was not the case, so the surgical team stopped mid operation and sent what they could remove for a biopsy. It was found that Layne has a large Stage 3 Pleomorphic Sarcoma. This is a rare and aggressive type of cancer that usually occurs in the arms or legs. Right now it is isolated to a mass on his back under the shoulder blade. After extensive testing, the plan is to undergo at least 6 weeks of radiation. After they are satisfied with the results of the radiation treatment he will have to have a series of operations. The first one will be to remove the Sarcoma along with the muscle and connective tissue around it. The second will be a reconstruction of the muscle and skin in that area. The treatments will take place in Minot at the Cancer Care Center and the surgeries will be in Fargo at Sanford Health.
The travel and medical costs associated will be extensive, and it is uncertain with the recovery and physical therapy that will be required exactly when Layne will be able to work again. Our goal is to help ease some of the financial strain on Layne and his family so they can focus on his healing. His battle with cancer may be just beginning and each day may bring a different challenge, but the love and support he has received from those around him is truly a blessing.
Layne has also asked for thoughts and prayers for the oncologists, nurses, and surgical staff that will be helping him through this difficult time in his life.
