LCHS CARES: COVID-19 Relief
Donation protected
The La Canada Community is coming together to fight COVID-19. LCHS CARES is a program organized and run by LCHS students in cooperation with LCHS administration and faculty. We are 3D Printing Face Shields for use in local hospitals such as Adventist Health Glendale, Huntington Hospital, and the USC Keck Medicine System (with a focus on Verdugo Hills Hospital).
We are printing two designs currently, one by Rich Brilliant Willing and one by USC . The USC design will be donated to those on the "Front lines" (Doctors, Nurses, anyone who would come in direct contact with the virus), and the RBW design will be distributed to those on the "Back lines" (Front Desk, Food Workers, anyone who wouldn't come in direct contact with the virus). Both are essential to keeping our hospital workers safe.
To those who might have been following us from the beginning, we were able to develop a new way to print the previously unprintable USC design. This is in part due to new contributors to the program, overwhelming community support, and Jim Cartnal and Ryan Hainey at LCHS. Mr. Carntal and Mr. Hainey lent us two additional "MakerBot" printers, effectively tripling our output of faceshields!
If any local student who hasn't started printing would like to join, send us an email ([email redacted]), DM us on Instagram (lchs_cares), or contact me on GoFundMe! I will gladly send some printing material your way.
If you would like to donate the following materials, we will glady accept them! These are the materials in the order of necessity:
1/4 inch Elastic
Transparency Film (Such as overhead transparencies)
1.75mm PLA Filament
If there is any money left over when the printing process is finished, it will be donated between whichever hospitals we work with.
100% of the money will go to the materials and hospitals. Any amount helps, but if you're unable to donate, share this GoFundMe with everyone you know. We can do it!
