Lead Abatement and Home Safety

Hello! We are the Fitzsimmons family and we are attempting to raise funds to finance Home improvements to make a safer environment for our two boys, Logan, age 4 and Isaac, age 1.

We recently purchased a 1,500 square feet Home in WA constructed in 1939. The house is situated on a 5 acre lot and is a dream space for us.

However, being built before 1978 it is plagued with Lead paint throughout. Lead is extremely dangerous to humans and especially so for developing youngsters under age 6. Lead, even in trace amounts, is capable of lifelong neurological impairments and even death. Lead poisoning typically occurs when lead paint chips are ingested, or when old lead paint is disturbed(usually by opening and closing doors and windows) and a fine dust is released into the environment containing lead particles. Children are especially susceptible to the affects of lead poisoning, which is why we are reaching out to our community for assistance!

We will use the funding to finance Lead Abatement performed by an EPA certified contractor to effectively remove all traces of Lead in and around our home and to dispose of safely. The average cost of lead abatement is $15 per square foot. Also, we will use the funds to relocate our family to a temporary living situation while the work is performed to ensure our children are not put at risk.
