Lebanese volunteer firefighters support fund

Donation protected
The Zouk Mikael fire brigade is one of the main brigades working in the Kesserwan area 25km north of Beirut. The station houses 42 volunteer firefighters, EMTs, and rescue personnel, all of them are volunteers, and all of them have their daytime jobs.

The brave men and women are poorly supported by their government: very little support is given to their work. They Buy their own PPE and gear (firesuits, helmets, rescue equipment, station furniture...) and they even buy their own medical equipment for the ambulance (Consumables, Bandages, O2 masks, Gloves, face masks, sanitizing material...)

And in the past 2 months, the government stop providing fuel for the emergency vehicles, and ever since, the volunteers pay themselves the cost of fuel for the emergency vehicles.
In August 2019, their fire truck had a severe rollover accident. The truck suffered from substantial damage. It was sent to be repaired but was never delivered back and No temporary firetruck was provided to keep the fire brigade active.
The cost of repairs is $15,000 and this amount is supposed to be covered by the government, but sadly the government is unable to provide this amount anymore especially during this economic crisis. It needs a new set of tires which costs around $5,700. And knowing that the fire season will be starting in the upcoming months, the station also needs a small command vehicle or a small brushfire truck that can be used for quick dispatch.

The station’s work was put on hold in the past two years, while it actually covers an area that contains several hazardous hotspots:

-Zouk Mosbeh industrial area that contains 100+ various factories in addition to the EDL power plant which also lies in Zouk Mikael.
-Densely populated areas between Adonis - Sarba - Zouk mikael town...
- Forested valleys and hills between Zouk mosbeh - Aintoura and Ain al Rihani
- Touristic zones: Kaslik - Zouk old souk - Beach resorts along the Coastal line
- 12 academic centers: 4 universities and 8 schools
- a multitude of public places and libraries
The station has no vehicles to use in any intervention, not even an SUV.

We hereby ask you to support the station to be able to buy a new small firetruck that could help them carry on with their quest to keep their community safe, knowing that the fire season is only a few months away.

We appreciate your continued support and donations!
