Lebanon Humanitarian Relief

The Situation:
Lebanon is experiencing one of its worst humanitarian crises in recent history. Nearly 3,500 people have been killed, including hundreds of women and children, and almost 15,000 thousand others injured.
Entire cities have been evacuated amid the threat of Israeli airstrikes, and more than one million people — nearly a quarter of the population — have so far been displaced. There are insufficient shelters to accommodate them, and many are forced to sleep on the street as winter approaches. Lebanon’s crisis-hit caretaker government is still reeling from a historic economic crisis and has been unable to cater to their needs.
The Solution:
Our only hope to get through this crisis is by community-led initiatives designed to support humanitarian relief efforts. This is why I created this GoFundMe page to help those who are in need.
The Target Group:
This is where Bilal and his community-led initiative comes in. I met Bilal through a
mutual friend. He is an awesome individual who has been converting public spaces such as schools into makeshift shelters. Since the campaign’s inception, he has established and sustained three shelter locations for displaced families that hosts around 25 families ( 129 individuals)
In addition to shelter residents, he is also distributing daily meals to displaced children and families in the wider area for around 380 individuals daily.
However, Bilal has been struggling to keep up as the influx of refugees grows by the minute and resources remain scarce.
Please watch this video to know more about his initiative:
How will the money be spent?
- 75% of the fund will go to purchasing food and water supplies to sustain the shelters, along with buying sleeping materials to ensure no one is forced to sleep on the ground (on average, $1.8 per person per day worth of food and $13 per mattress)
- 22% of the fund will go to utilities, housing, medical and hygiene supplies (on average, $6 per person per month on gas and electricity, and $450 per month on infant needs such as milk, diapers, nutritional supplements etc.)
- 3% of the fund will be allocated to cover transportation cost and phone expenses.
How can you help?
By contributing whatever you can, you will help make sure that families will have adequate shelter, food and basic medical needs. My country needs you and I need you. Please donate to make sure that people in need are supported in these tough times.
Thank you for your support
