Ledger‘s Fight with Leukemia

Ledger Rhodes is a spunky, rough and tough, wrestling, outside loving, ball of energy, 3 year old little boy that had not been himself lately. On Friday, May 19th, Caitlin and Reid took Ledger to the peds clinic for blood work. He recently tested positive for strep throat and finished his antibiotics on Thursday, but he still had a fever 1-2x a day, he was so pale, he had so many new dark bruises, and then developed a petechiae rash on Thursday the 18th. Before even arriving home, Caitlin received a call that his blood work was alarming and they needed to get Ledger to Batson right away. Just a few short hours later, their world changed in an instant as they got the news they were dreading. Ledger has leukemia.

He was instantly admitted to the pediatric oncology floor for a blood transfusion as he awaits his bone marrow biopsy and chemport insertion on Monday to start his treatments. He will be at Batson for atleast 12 days this time, with his treatments lasting around 2 years.

To say this is life altering would be an understatement. Caitlin and Reid both work full time and have two other children at home. We are asking for donations to help ease the large burden leukemia is placing on them. We want financial stress to be the last stress they are experiencing right now as they begin the hardest fight of their lives.
