In Loving Memory Of Lee Downing

Most of you have now heard the awful news that during Easter weekend Lee Downing has passed away unexpectedly aged just 49 leaving behind his partner of 23 years Nat, daughter Ella (14) and son Charlie (12).

Many of you will know Lee as the gentle giant of our town always on the go whether he was walking, biking or at the gym. He was a kind friendly loving man who always had time for a chat with anyone.

His partner Nat is also a well loved face in the town having worked in Boots chemist for 25 years caring for our community. She always puts everyone else’s needs before her own and is well known for her friendly mannerism and infectious laugh.

This beautiful family have had the most awful 12 months with losing Nat’s Nan and Lee’s Dad and then Nat being diagnosed with breast cancer late last year and spending the last 6 months undergoing treatment, and for them to face even more heartbreak with Lee’s unexpected passing is so unfair.

I would like us to get together like the great town we are and raise some money to support this wonderful family through this difficult time and allow them to give Lee the send-off he truly deserves.

Their daughter Ella has expressed a wish that she would like to scatter her Dad’s ashes at Devon Cliffs which was a favourite holiday spot for the family holding lots of special memories for them, so if we could raise some money to contribute to this trip, that would be amazing.
