Hi Everyone,
I recently had one of the most difficult conversations with Lee since her diagnosis of stage 4 bowel cancer 2 and a half years ago.
As many people know, Leeanne has embarked on a holistic healing journey that includes both modern medicine (chemo) but also lots of integrative targeted treatment that is doing wonders in keeping Leeanne fighting and responding to treatment.
The reality is, this additional treatment is expensive. With a growing 2 year old, London bills to pay, and only one full house hold income, it’s getting challenging for them to make ends meet and most importantly afford this super important treatment.
Having to ask for financial support was something both Leeanne and Emma were deeply uncomfortable with and it took a lot of persuading to get them to do this.
They have the most incredibly community around them, and they are forever grateful for the support everyone has shown them over this period.
With Leeanne’s bday coming up, they would like to ask people not to send flowers or cards, but if people wanted to instead help them towards their medical fund, this would mean the world to them.
Here is a message strictly from Leeanne:
“ Having to ask for financial support is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to ask for. I wish from the bottom of my heart I wouldn’t have to write this. I wish everything were different.
Our beautiful friends who have seen us go through this journey have persuaded me to be brave and set up this page.
So here it goes…:
My name is Lee, mother of a two year old baby boy and married to my gorgeous wife Emma. Just 2.5 years ago I was diagnosed with BRAF mutant Stage IV bowel cancer, which had metastasised to my liver. I have 22 tumours in my liver. So far I have completed 47 rounds of chemotherapy and continue on this treatment every two/three weeks. It has turned our life upside down! My cancer is currently incurable, however we hold on to hope for cancer research to come up with something exciting soon.
Based on statistics the median overall survival was a year at diagnosis. A shocking prognosis and one I intend to prove wrong with all my might.
I fully believe the only reason I am still alive and doing well on this grilling chemo regime is all the integrative therapies I have been doing alongside my conventional treatment. These therapies include consultations with integrative oncology physicians, high dose vitamin C infusions, mistletoe injections, targeted supplements, emotional therapy and healing, dietary requirements, acupuncture, specialised blood tests.
Since my diagnosis we have spent at least £21,000 on these complementary therapies. Unfortunately I have to spend an average of £700 a month to continue on this path of integrative healing, which is becoming difficult to fund.
Please if there is any way you can support me, and my family, I will forever be thankful.”
My name is Fran Colenso. I set up this fundraiser to support my best friend Leeanne Grassnick with ongoing expenses of integrative medical treatments. Leeanne Grassnick is the beneficiary of this fundraiser. The money will be sent to Leeanne Grassnick via bank transfer.
