Lee Mays Contract with MC1 Nashville & Sony Music
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
I never dreamed that I would have a second chance in my life to sign a recording contract with a major record label. In 1977, I was first offered a recording contract with a Contemporary Christian Music record label out of Nashville, Tennessee. But because I had two other contract offers with CCM record labels at the same time, I decided to "hold out" for the best record deal. To make a long story short, I made a miscalculation and lost out altogether, never signing the contract, even though the contract was signed by the Nashville record executive. But my not signing the recording contract at that time has meant that I've retained 100% ownership to the rights to the 1976 Percy Mays "Shine Your Love" LP music for the past 45 years.
As fate would have it, that miscalculation on my part has been a blessing in disguise. The popularity of the songs that I wrote during the 1970's, including a single on a Dove Award-winning album, has propelled my popularity as a musical artist today. Since 2010, I have signed licensing agreements for the re-release of the 1976 Percy Mays "Shine Your Love" album with independent record companies from South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States. My music has been heard worldwide and has become a springboard and a catalyst to my comeback as a musical artist.
In the past few years, my music has evolved from the CCM genre to the Smooth Jazz and R&B/Soul genres. Since 2015, there have been numerous concert tours and appearances in major cities in Eastern and Southern Europe. My songs have topped the charts in the United Kingdom and the United States, and have been played on radio stations all around the world.
On February 12, 2021, Nashville came calling once again after almost 45 years. The executives at MC1 Nashville, who just recently signed jazz/blues artist Anita King, daughter of blues legend B.B. King, liked the songs I submitted and offered me a record contract.
MC1 Nashville is a faith-based company and is a partner of Sony Music Entertainment. Sony Music Entertainment's record label is The Orchard, which has been the home of such artists as Pit Bull, Toby Keith, and Dave Chappelle. The agreement I've been offered will include the following:

Thank you very much,
Lee Mays
