Lee Starkey

Hello My name is Adam, I am fundraising for my friend and former colleague Lee Starkey.
I set up this fundraiser not in the hopes of raising loads of money, however it would certainly help but as a way to reach out for people to show there appreciation in anyway of how having Lee as part of there life has made them a better person.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could all just raise money just cos we like and appreciate a person, unfortunately that is not the case here. Last year during 2020 which we can all agree was a hard year anyway. During a routine scan for something innocuous, they found that Lee had secondary Cancer in his lungs, so they carried out a biopsy to locate the main Cancer, long story short and a-lot of test later it turn out it was stomach cancer.
Now anyone who knows Lee knows he took this in a way anyone would.......... with a positive outlook and an I can beat this attitude. Unfortunately last week whilst attending a trial treatment he was informed that he only had mere months to live.
As you can imagine this is horrible news. However after a little time Lee decided to not letting this get him down, he did tell me with great sadness that him retraining to be a personal trainer is probably not going to be worth it anymore.
Many of you will know Lee personally, perhaps through his passion for rugby (he once made me watch England VS Scotland), or from his old school days in the Army (I asked him about his time there but he said something about having to kill me if he told me so I passed) or maybe his time working for CAN offshore in the UK north sea. I met Lee when he was my supervisor on the Bleo holm in 2014 and then went on into forming part of the class inspection team for that asset, working closely with him for nearly 2 years was interesting he was a knowledgeable level 3 and team leader and would always make time to talk and answer any questions about the job if needed. He was always up for a joke and may have gotten me in trouble with some people for some oily hand prints one time, I do believe he came clean eventually.
The photo I used for this fundraiser is of Lee hanging upside down during a routine inspection on the Helideck of the Bleo Holm Helideck, I remember betting him he could not hang upside down and make it look like he was standing normally. Needless to say I let him win that bet and I went to the bond that night.
There are too many stories for me to type them all here for people to read, However If you have anything that you would like to remind Lee about or make fun of him for the time he had to be rescued at a training centre then feel free to drop him an email on l s t a r k e y 6 @ a o l . c o m (I had to write the email address with spaces or i would not be aloud to post it. I did clear this with him first Had to ) even just a message to say hi would be appreciated.
I don't know how to end this so I'll just leave it at help if you can and email Lee with memories, photographs or stories.
