Lee Walters Battle with Cancer
Donation protected
I am trying to raise money for my dad, Lee Walters who was just given the diagnosis of Stage 2 Multiple Myeloma. My dad has always been a hard worker, even working two jobs at times to provide for our family. He was also a Marine and helped serve our country.
As some of you may know, last summer he had an abscess removed and ended up with a colostomy. In February they went to reverse the colostomy and the surgery did not go as planned and he ended up with an ileostomy. After this last surgery he was in and out of the hospital for a little over a month with sepsis. After many mistakes and poor care from Penn State Lancaster he was transferred to Hershey. At Hershey they incidentally found that his blood protein was elevated and did further testing to determine it was cancer. Because of these hospitalizations, he had 6 weeks of work unpaid and is out of time off.
Despite this diagnosis, along with pain and fatigue, my dad has tried to push through and continue working. My goal is to try raise money to help cover cost of treatments, and to ease the financial burden my dad now faces. He will be starting weekly treatments and the copay for these drugs are very expensive. Without treatment they said he would have less than a year. We don’t know how he will respond to treatment and are looking at a possible future bone marrow transplant as well.
Please donate if you can and keep my dad in your prayers!
