Dear friends,
my brother, Lee-Kang, was faced with the diagnosis of stage 4B liver cancer in July 2015. By that time the size of the tumor has already grown to 18-19 cm (~7-7.5 inches). The doctor literally just gave up on him. My brother has been told yet to do whatever he wants to do and eat whatever he wants to eat. In other words: the doctor gave him a few more months to live. When my mother heard about it she immediately took my brother back to our homeland Taiwan to get another diagnosis. The reason why she did it is because Taiwan gained a reputation in Asia for providing accessible, high-quality healthcare in the recent years.

The first hospital made the same diagnosis. "It's too late." is what the doctor said. My mother almost collapsed when she heard those words. Our world crushed cause we have already lost other family members to this devilish disease. But one of my cousin, who is a nurse, gave us hope. She told my mother about the CyberKnife treatment.

Since then Lee-Kang is receiving treatment in the hospital and had underwent several medical interventions with the CyberKnife. My mother's role has changed to the one of a nurse. She literally is by my brother's side 24/7. The last year was like a ride with a rollercoaster for my whole family. Although they have managed to kill the large tumor on the liver, cancer has already spread to the lungs. Hundred of mestastases were detected. Therefore he received a chemotherapy. Within a few weeks, the doctor detected a new tumor in his liver. It is like a neverending nightmare. In spite of being happy that my brother is still alive and fighting, the downside of the whole situation are the expenses. Unfortunately each procedure with the CyberKnife System, the medical care and the medications are connected to immense costs. This was and is a huge financial burden. We have already used our savings to cover everything. We just don't know what to do anymore. Now I, as his little brother, am asking desperately for your help. Lee-Kang, a son, a brother and a friend to many, has a chance to survive with your support. We are very thankful for every contribution even if it is only prayers or shares. Anything will help!
