Lee Calvert’s Story: A Century of Strength and Loss

Lee sadly lost her home in the Palisades fire.
On Tuesday morning, Lee received an unexpected call from her daughter-in-law at 10:45am and was told to pack her essentials immediately. With no time to lose, she was given just 10 minutes to gather her belongings and head out the door. Lee quickly collected a few things and left, not knowing that would be the last time she was in her beloved home.
By 12:30 PM, evacuation alerts were flooding in. It was then that a deep sense of dread settled in as she realized the danger threatening her beloved Pacific Palisades neighborhood, including her cherished home of over 62 years in Tahitian Terrace. Lee had been part of the community since its early days, long before Temescal Canyon Road was even developed!
Lee is a pillar of the Pacific Palisades community. A testament to her vibrant spirit, she was recently interviewed by The Palisadian-Post about staying active as a 100 year old. During the interview, she proudly demonstrated her nightly routine of performing 15 men’s push-ups and sit ups—her secret to staying youthful.
As an active member of the Palisades Optimist Club, Lee starts her mornings early with her longtime friend, Dr. Labrot, who picks her up for breakfast and club meetings. Lee is also an athlete, having competed in the Huntsman Senior Games, and is already preparing to compete again in 2025 while cheering on Team Roof to another victory!
Lee’s love for the outdoors is well-known, as she often hiked in Temescal Canyon Park and enjoyed sitting on her patio and taking in the fresh beach air.
Recently, Lee was honored as the keynote speaker at the Pacific Palisades Women’s Club. Her inspiring speech focused on overcoming life’s challenges and the power of maintaining a positive attitude.
Hanging out with Lee is always a positive experience; her sharp mind and kind demeanor make her beloved by all who know her. The loss of her home is devastating, but we are hopeful that her 100th year will still be filled with new joys and opportunities.
Please consider donating to help Lee rebuild after this extraordinary loss. Her goal in life is to continue living independently and happy.
All proceeds will go directly to Lee.
