Due to being unable to work full time the last few years, I have to share my living space with other people. Often, you'll meet and live with wonderful people, it's how I've met a lot of my longest-term friends!

Sometimes, you end up with the current situation I'm in. I won't mention any names, but basically we took in someone who was in a bit of a bad situation, and it unfortunately came back to bite me in the butt. On top of the pretty unstable situation my longer-term flatmate and I were in for several months, I was also left out of pocket for several hundred dollars. Things such as utility bills, costs of cleaning up the room that was left in a dreadful state, stolen items, etc.

My main aims here are to get some money for, in rough order (incl GFM fees and such):

approx 5 months of power usage that just wasn't paid. I really could ask for a bit more as said flatmate had a partner move in -- without consulting anyone else -- and really should account for half of the usage in that period, but we'll keep it to 1/3rd. ~$250
money that had either been borrowed from me, or from amounts missing in rent payments made to me. ~$230
money for part of the cleaning I had to do to make the room presentable. might just keep it to the money I paid a professional cleaner to come around for an hour, $50
a laptop that was taken. I'd allowed them to use it once to do something online, but that was read as a signal to just take possession of it, and wasn't to be found when they vacated. it's an older machine, but ~$250-300

Not great to be left out of pocket for this much, when it's been tough making a living, having recurring medical expenses etc, but hopefully some folks can help out. Thank you.
