Legacy for DC

The community of Pitt Meadows lost a beautiful soul. We embraced him as one of our own. He shared his smile, his kind eyes and gentle demeanor.
He was DC.
Those that lived in Pitt for any length of time would have come to know him. The man in black, typically outside of Shoppers Drug Mart. Sometimes making his way to 7-11 without stepping on any cracks.
As a community we collected money for him, made sure he had warm clothes in the winter months, new shoes or rain jacket as needed.
We fed him, embraced and loved him as one of our own.
Personally, my son and I always made time for DC. If I saw him at the bus stop, I'd offer him a ride. Sometimes he accepted it. Sometimes he didn't.
We bought him shoes, one year it was a sleeping bag, then a new jacket. Endless bottles of Cokes, McDonald's and gift cards. And of course cash to feed him. We both truly enjoyed DC.
I am raising money to create a legacy for DC.
My intention is to have a bench in the City of Pitt Meadows that reads:
"Here I sit with my friend, DC.
May I always be reminded, simple acts of kindness build community.
Thank you DC, for showing us, we are all connected."
