Trust for Zachery Koontz's Children

With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden, unexpected passing of Zachery Axel Koontz; beloved son, brother, father, and best friend. He left this world on August 20, 2024, at the age of 43. This was a complete shock to his family, his children, and the community.
Zachery was born on April 23, 1981, in Payson, Arizona, to Alfred Ralph Koontz Jr. and Tammy Jayne Garrett.
Zach touched many lives throughout his journey on this earth. He loved his children, family, and friends very deeply. He was very proud to be a father and always spoke highly of his children.
Zach was an amazing artist. If he had a pen, a piece of wood, or Legos, he could create something beautiful with his endless talent and imagination. He loved music and the guitar and enjoyed sharing that love with those around him.
Zach's determination to be the best helped him succeed in his professional life. He spent the last part of his journey in the HVAC industry and truly was one of the best. Zach was extremely excited when his son, Dylan, came to work with him because he wanted to pass his legacy on to him. This is a tremendous loss to his family, friends, and the entire HVAC community.
Zach was so proud of his daughter, Rylee. He looked forward to her graduation from high school that he planned to attend. Zach was able to recently attend her volleyball competition here in Salt Lake City. Rylee will always be his princess.
Zach was so happy to spend time with his youngest son, Stetson, just a week prior to his passing. He deeply loved that little boy.
Zach was preceded in death by his grandparents, Max and Nedra Peck, and Ralph Sr. and Ester Koontz, and father, Ralph Koontz Jr.
Zach is survived by his mother, Tammy Garrett, stepfather, Mike Garrett; brothers, Justin Koontz, Kyle Koontz, Taylor Koontz; and his children, Dylan Koontz (21), Rylee Koontz (17), and Stetson Koontz (6).
We love you, Zach, to the moon and back.
