The Leadership Rockdale Legacy Project encourages community involvement through the identification of a long-term sustainable project in Conyers-Rockdale.
After a group vote for the Legendary Leadership Rockdale Class of 2015, we selected "Partnership For Community Action(Rockdale Head Start Center)" as our project. We are thrilled at this opportunity to support our community and young children here!
From their director, Morgan Birch, "We need your support in assisting the Rockdale Head Start Center in readying the grounds for our Learning Botanical Garden. The Rockdale Head Start Center willimplement a botanical learning garden for our students with flowers, green plants, and edible plants. During the four-hour project, we will take initial steps to plant the garden. We need your help in preparing the soil, and beginning planting process of flowers, fruits, and vegetables."
The main objectives of Rockdale Head Start Center creating a botanical garden:
a. increase student knowledge and skills related to growing vegetables from seeds,
b. increase student willingness to try new foods,
c. help students make the connection between the food they grew and their choices in family style dining meals.
d. observe beautiful flowers in their school environment to compare and contrast.
Community leaders, friends, neighbors, and family, Rockdale Head Start has requested a minimal amount to create a sustainable garden that will provide food and beauty for the children and family in their program. Will you join us so we can far exceed their request? Let's make this unforgettable!
