UPDATE > LET THEM BREATHE WITHDREW SUPPORT FOR THE BOSWELL FAMILY AFTER THEY WENT TO SCHOOL ADMIN'S RESIDENCE. ALL DONORS WERE NOTIFIED OF HOW TO RECEIVE THEIR REFUND. THIS GFM CAN NOT BE DELETED UNTIL DONORS ARE REFUNDED BUT IT WAS MADE INACTIVE WHEN LTB LEARNED OF THE BOSWELL'S ACTIONS THAT WERE NOT PLANNED OR CONDONED BY LTB
Previously members of the El Dorado community had reached out to LTB to ask for support for the Boswell's student who had been excluded from school for peacefully unmasking. The LTB legal team analyzed the legal issues and determined that the Boswell's had legal standing to challenge their student's exclusion. LTB provided an option for El Dorado parents to share support for the legal bills so that our legal team could advocate for this student's right to attend school. Legal correspondence was being drafted but had not been sent yet.
The Boswell's actions were not planned or condoned by LTB and were unknown to LTB until after they happened. Our legal team reached out to them and let them know that LTB could no longer be involved and that they did not have legal standing to move forward. The LTB team reached out to all donors to let them know that we would not be supporting the Boswells and how to receive a refund. A public statement has not been published yet due to the founder of LTB's father passing suddenly. Out of respect for her and in an effort to keep our team focused on our positive peaceful advocacy and effective legal action through the judicial system LTB has not wanted to give the Boswell's inappropriate actions any acknowledgement on our large platform.
LTB is for peaceful advocacy and effective legal action. We have no part in and will not support anyone who is disrespectful or aggressive. Going to the residence of anyone is the opposite of what we support. Our founder receives death threats and knows what it feels like to be on the other end of hate and aggressive tactics and it was especially painful for her to hear of the Boswell's decision to behave in a way completely counter to everything LTB stands for. LTB is a large group and does not know personally everyone we communicate with - the best we can do is initially vet the legal issues and withdraw support if anyone violates our community guidelines.
LTB continues to support all students' rights to peacefully access their in-person education without the use of ineffective and harmful masks. We call on parents to use our resources for peaceful advocacy and stay focused on ending these mandates in court while caring for their own mental health so that they can make appropriate decisions and use positive communication during this difficult season.
