Legal defence fund for Darwin's own #MeToo story
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Shannon, and I'm an independent unpaid community journalist running a news page called The Mango Inquirer, exposing the underbelly of a regional city in the Northern Territory, called Darwin.
I'm facing the legal fight of my life, against a successful businessman demanding I remove online news stories that exposed his sexualised behaviour towards teenage girls and young women; some renting rooms at his Bayview property.
The money raised here will go towards my legal defence; and may cover travel costs and accommodation for the young women, some in their 20s now, to travel from interstate and appear in court here in Darwin.
As a father with my own 14 and 16-year-old daughters, I feel a strong sense of duty to tell this story, and won't be backing down.
It's far too important to be swept under the carpet.
The idea that young women, some from vulnerable backgrounds, can be taken advantage of in this manner, and have their voices silenced by a far older man with a lot of money, is heart-breaking.
I run no advertisements, and my news is 100% free at The Mango Inquirer.
My cameras have already been sold, along with my car.
Your help with a small donation for my legal defence, would be much appreciated.
