Legal Defense Fund for Ali Danial Hemani

As many of you know, our friend Ali Danial Hemani was arrested on February 10, 2023 and charged in federal court.

He has now spent more than 3 months in jail. He has been granted a new bail hearing for June 15, at which his lawyers will be able to present evidence as to why he should be released. In addition, the court will hear arguments as to why the entire case should be dismissed.

Danial’s family has faced heavy scrutiny and surveillance by the FBI since mid 2020 at least. The FBI executed a search warrant at the family’s home in August 2022, at which they retrieved the items they are using to charge Danial now. The FBI had all the information they needed to bring this charge against Danial in August 2022, but they did not arrest him that day, or the next day, or the next week, or even the next month. They waited six months, and arrested him on a Friday night when he would be forced to wait until at least Monday to be brought before a judge.

After he was initially denied bail, his family hired private criminal defense attorneys in the Dallas area to represent Danial. The family needs your help in paying for the attorney’s fees and other fees (for their investigator). We still need another $25,000. All money will go directly to the attorneys to pay for his fees.
