On 11/27/20, I was raped by Jason Ward, the host of web series Birds of North America and a prominent figure in the birding and science communication field. I am attempting to get justice but also to share my story in order to encourage other women & men who have experienced sexual assault at the hands of another individual.

I am exploring multiple avenues for Jason to be held accountable for his actions. I reported my case to the police in December. This process has been challenging because on the criminal side of things, a detective is responsible for gathering evidence, communicating accurate information, conducting a thorough investigation, and operating without bias or blaming the victim for the incident. This was unfortunately not the case. I also learned that Jason Ward hired an attorney after he was invited to come in for questioning.
My goal is to bring attention to what Jason Ward has done and prevent him from hurting other people. I will do this by hiring an attorney to push for a fair, unbiased, thorough investigation of my case and to bring to light the other instances of Jason harming women.
There has been an outpouring of support from a large group of people from areas across the nation and the world. Many survivors have shared their personal accounts with me and I do not believe I can stop until action takes place. I will not stop until the voices of so many who did not have a platform to speak are also heard.
Please consider donating to cover my legal fees. If the amount raised exceeds the amount needed to cover legal costs, I will donate the remaining amount to local sexual assault and domestic assault centers in the metro Atlanta area.
Thank you so much for your support and your kindness.
