Legal Fees for Olivia Alaso

We are friends of Olivia Alaso, Founding Member of Kusimama Africa, Director of Sankara Pan African Library, and Campaign Leader of No White Saviors.

 

In the last two weeks, Olivia’s white female co-founder has tried to force her out of the organization with a mandated “informal resignation”.

 

The irony of all of this is not lost on us. No White Saviors was created to be a safe space specifically designed to protect Black voices against white supremacist violence.

 

To this end, we have reached the point of no return. We are now seeking funding to support Olivia in her efforts to legally protect herself and rebuild after being subjected to sustained violence and workplace oppression.

My relationship with Olivia Alaso 
On April 19th, Olivia published a post asking for help regarding the issues she is dealing with her co-founder. I was moved to help her and volunteered to help create the GoFundMe page for her. She could not create the page herself because she lives in a country that does not have the GoFundMe set up.

Getting the funds to Olivia
I'll send the funds from GoFundMe to my bank account. From there, I'll use a money transfer platform like Remitly or Wise to directly transfer the funds to Olivia’s account.

What will the funds be used for
The funds will be used to cover the legal fees Olivia will incur in any legal action she takes against her co-founder and the general legal transition and restructuring of the organization.
