Who am I? - My name is Darrian Minor, and I am the mother to the most amazing 4-year-old little girl named April Skye Blakely

Summary - For the past four years, I have worked tirelessly to fully support my daughter by myself and give her the best life possible while her father has been spiraling down a dark path of heavy drug use and homelessness. Addicted to opiates, benzodiazepines, amphetamines, crack, and alcohol, he has abandoned his role as her father. His long history of violence and run-ins with the law have made him unfit at this time to care for her or be a part of her life.

What are we trying to achieve? - Winning this case would help give April a voice and ensure that she can live the happiest and healthiest life that we, as her parents, can provide for her. I have concerns about her emotional development regarding her relationship with her father. Even her teachers at school have brought their concerns to my attention about April's emotional regulation and mental state days or even weeks leading up to seeing her father for visits or when she talks to him over the phone. Unfortunately, her situation with her father shows through her actions and emotions. She loves her daddy but does not like talking to or being around him because he is always checked out and not present mentally.

What is the next step in the case? - Right now, I ask that April's father pass random drug tests, remain sober, and attend parenting classes to continue contact with our daughter. The following steps, in this case, are mediation on October 11th, and our court hearing is scheduled for October 26th

How much are we raising and why? - At this time, I am trying to raise $5,500.00 to pay the restitution for a lawyer that will help represent me in making the best possible plan of action for April.
