Lehigh & New England RR MotorCar Restoration
Tax deductible
The Volunteer Railroaders Association (VRA) asks for your support to finish the Lehigh and New England Railroad Sheffield 40B motor car’s restoration. This very rare 100 year old railroad motorcar was nearing completion in the fall of 2021. The photos show you the car's condition when we first received it and how it looks now.
Unfortunately, parties unknown stole the trailer that we use to bring the car to different events. We were very thankful the thief did steal the motor car. Faced with a difficult decision, our small volunteer group chose to spend all the money we’d earned and saved for the restoration as well as take out a loan so that the car could be seen by the public. The car is now on display at the National Museum of Industrial History in Bethlehem, PA through March 2022. We are asking for your support for the following:
- Repayment of the trailer loan: $4,000
- Replacement windows for the 40B: $350
- Restoration of the original Fairbanks Morse engine: $650
We are grateful for your consideration. The VRA is a 100% volunteer organization. Any donations will go towards the 40B’s preservation. We are a federally recognized 501(c)3 non-profit corporation in business for over 25 years to save, restore and preserve our railroad history. Again, thank you for your time and support.
