Leigh and Chris O'Quinn Medical expenses

Hi everyone, I want to reach out and ask y'all for a simple donation to help with the medical expenses for Chris O'quinn. Chris is a beloved and revered teacher and counselor at Brunswick High School who has been battling renal cell carcinoma cancer since December. His wife Leigh has been a staple in the Brunswick community as an ER nurse for over 14 years and is now a nurse practitioner in the same ER.

Some of you have heard and some of you haven’t, but Chris was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma a few days after Thanksgiving. We met with his oncologist at Mayo Clinic in December and received our treatment plan. After waiting through the holidays and changing insurance companies, we finally got him started on his treatment. However, while waiting to begin treatment, Chris began to have fluid build up in his abdomen and had several procedures to drain the fluid after which they placed a permanent drain allowing me to drain him at home. After a couple of weeks of having this drain, the drain stopped working effectively so we had to remove it. At the time, they were not able to place another drain so we waited a few days and decided to bring him to the ER at the Mayo Clinic. They were able to place a temporary drain allowing for continuous drainage of the fluid. He has been on multiple rounds of antibiotics since even before his official diagnosis leading to mouth ulcers prohibiting him from eating and getting nutrition. They tried a feeding tube but Chris was not able to tolerate that so today, Saturday February 4, they are planning to put in a PICC line to give him nutrition through his veins. He also has had fluid build up around one of his lungs and the cytology report from that fluid was positive for cancer cells. So, ultimately at this point cancer has spread from his right kidney into his lymph nodes, peritoneum, liver and lungs. The prognosis is not good and the doctors feel there is not much they can do beyond treating his symptoms and ensuring he is comfortable. We ask for prayers for our family and prayers for Chris to feel peace and not suffer.
