Leighton's Transplant
Donation protected
A beautiful baby girl named Leighton blessed Delanie, Matt, and their family and friends on March 26, 2014. Shortly after her birth Leighton was hospitalized with very low hemoglobin. She underwent monthly blood transfusions and 2 bone marrow biopsies before being diagnosed at 5 months old with Diamond Blackfan Anemia, a rare blood disorder which prohibits red blood cell production.
Leighton was put on steroid therapy for almost 2 years, which helped in the beginning but eventually stopped. She now has monthly blood transfusions to survive and has to be on Jadenu for iron overload. She also receives daily injections of Neupogen for neutropenia and is on monthly Pentamidine IV therapy to prevent serious infections.
Leighton is a fun loving, kind, caring, 3.5 year old little girl who enjoys preschool, and loves people, animals, princesses, and anything pink and glittery. She lights up any room she’s in and makes everyone smile. She is smart, beautiful, brave and strong.
Leighton will be traveling to Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center Hospital for a bone marrow transplant to cure her. She will be there for at the very minimum, 4 months. We are asking for the continued support of her friends and family to help Leighton's mother make the move to Cincinnati for those months to be by her side. Any proceeds from this page will support Leighton's family during their stay in the hospital.
Thank you in advance for the support of our sweetest girl.
