Help Johnson-Shine Family Rebuild
Donation protected

For the past 12 years Hayden, Anon and Varaha Johnson have lived and worked from their beloved home on Pomaikai Street in Leilani Estates. Varaha and Anon grew up on the Big Island and Hayden has lived in their Leilani home for his entire life.
They where emergency evacuated Thursday, May 3rd, with the rest of their neighbors. 14 volcanic fissures (and counting) have opened in Leilani and the threat of lava, toxic sulphur dioxide and possibly devastating earthquakes makes the future uncertain. 35 homes (and counting) have already burned.
Though their house is still standing at this point, they will not be able to return and live there again as the roadways in the subdivison have been destroyed by large cracks. One of the main fissures is just 100 yards away from thire house. These cracks and fissures are emiting so much sulper dioxid that the plants all around the sudevision are withering. At any time the fissures could become active with lava again. The pain of loosing their family life and home of over 12 years so ubruptly is one of the most intense experience a family can have.
Varaha is know for his willingess to help others and never shy away from hardwork. He is self employed doing heavy landscaping and tree trimming. He has been working tierlessly since Thursday using his skills and tools to aid neighbors in rescuing pets and salvaging what they can of thier homes and possesions. Of course he is not charging for these services.
Anon is a Chef dedicated to bringing the beauty of the 'Āina of Puna to the plate as well as a Baker and Cake Artist. All of her work in on hold as the community sorts through this devistation.
Both Varaha and Anon work from home and in the midst of this crisis have not been able to keep generating income.
On top of this they had just made a couple big purchases for their home that have completely drained what little savings they had.
Though they all have safe places to be individually in temporary locations they have no place to be together as a family.
They are asking for donations to help insure that they will be able to secure a home together for themselves and their pets and be able to resume their work.
Mahalo Ohana!!!
