Leimert Park Rising: Juneteenth Celebration

STRONGER TOGETHER...
The Leimert Park Village Cultural Services Coalition is forming to show that we are STRONGER TOGETHER. In efforts to self-govern, empower and protect Leimert Park and its most valued cultural assets.
In response to the city's most recent attempts to shut down our historical Sunday Market Place, we have mobilized together to not only uplift the Market, but to also employ a sustainable model for group economics and self governance in the village.
We are a collective of artists and cultural architects who organically joined forces in 2018 to produce Leimert Park Rising: Juneteenth Heritage Festival as a model for collective Black power-nomics and we plan to continue to uphold this tradition for years to come.
Through town hall meetings, educational workshops and large scale activations, we are on a mission to reverse effects of generational trauma, provide resources for healing, mediation and conflict resolution and self-governance and create models for effective cooperation in the village.
Simply put, we are here to show that we are stronger together. With your help, we will be able to raise funds that will produce the Leimert Park Rising Festival and in turn build a Basic Needs Fund. This fund will cover the weekly costs of the African Marketplace and Drum Circle for the entire month of June.
Thanks to you... this event is for the community, by the community. Let's Keep that energy going with your donation.
Bless.
