Lemard Fields and his children

Hi everyone, it is with a sad heart that I write this. This is Vernon Lawson, Lemard's first music teacher. I first met Lemard almost 20 years ago when he came into The Red Shield Center on 69th St. He wanted to learn music and as many of you know what started that day almost 20 years ago would ignite a passion for music and creativity that few people can relate to. Lemard would become much more than a student to me over the years. Lemard was a friend and more importantly a brother in Christ.

I do not have an answer for why God would allow His child, Lemard's story here on earth to end in the tragic way it did, however, I do know that while Lemard was here with us he had an impact on so many people. Throughout his teenage years, he was always eager to serve the young people in his church and use his gift of music to bless countless people in service with the Metro Youth Band, Praise team and the original music he often composed for church events. He was a vibrant, caring, and selfless young man always willing to lend a hand. His smile was contagious and you always walked away in a better mood after spending time with him.

I am thankful for all of the memories, the good times and the bad and most importantly for the opportunity to pray and be with him when he accepted Christ. I know he loved Jesus in his heart and while his life has been cut short, his time here on earth was impactful and I know God used him for good. "Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him and he in God" 1 John 4:15

As he leaves us here, he leaves behind two young children and a grieving family. I am asking that you prayerfully consider supporting them during this difficult time by whatever means you feel led to. All monies collected will be used for the funeral services and any leftover will be a blessing to the family.
