Lenape Trail Staircase Renovation Eagle Project

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Leonard Yu, and I am a 16-year-old Life Scout from Troop 17. I am starting to work on my Eagle Scout Project, where I will be renovating a flight of stairs at the Tulip Springs Parking Lot in the South Mountain Reservation. This staircase is part of the Lenape Trail, a long trail that connects many parks, reservations, and historic sites. Due to erosion and water damage, parts of the staircase have fallen into disrepair, and other steps are too tall for some hikers to use. By renovating these stairs, the Lenape trail will be more accessible to all hikers.

I would be tremendously grateful for any donation, no matter how small.

Project Expenses:
6x6x12 Pressure Treated Wood Beams: $46.88 x 9 = $421.92
36 Inch Steel Round Stakes: $9.60 x 20 = $192
8 Inch Wood Screws (12 pack): $27 x 2 = $54
Snacks and Drinks for each session: $15 x 6 = $90
Truck Rentals: $28 x 2 = $56
Miscellaneous (wood sealant, painting supplies, gloves and goggles, assorted smaller wood): Around $100

Total Estimate: $900-$950

$500 has been reimbursed by the South Mountain Conservancy
