Support Kelsie's Debt Relief Efforts

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Kelsie, and I'm a nonbinary lesbian currently going through an amicable divorce and I need assistance with paying off my debt and divorce costs. I am very thankful and lucky enough to have a decent job and be in a maintainable and stable living situation, but it is my card payments and managing my debt that have become increasingly hard.

Beginning this year, my insurance premium almost tripled due to the fact I added my soon-to-be-ex-husband onto the medical plan before we decided to separate. However, due to the policy of many insurance companies and the fact it all happened outside of open enrollment, I will be unable to remove him from my insurance plan until the divorce is finalized. In the state of Indiana, it takes a minimum of 60 days for a divorce to be considered for a final hearing after filing, so that's minimum two months that may paychecks will be significantly less. This is the main source of my financial stress. Previously my paychecks were enough to somewhat manage things, but with the new year, that is no longer the case.

Second is my personal debt. Over the past few years, I have been able to maintain regular card payments while routinely paying above the minimum required payment. However, after having to support two people on one income for multiple years, those payments would be made but eventually the space on that card would be used up at some point due to unforeseen/sudden expenses. Thankfully I am not over my limit on either card, nor have I ever been. But the fact of the matter is that the monthly payments for two cards on top of my monthly costs put me in an incredibly stressful financial situation.

I am currently living paycheck to paycheck while only being able to cover the bare minimum. I am very thankful to be in a situation where I have stable employment, housing, and a wonderful support network, however my ability to keep up with things has been drastically hindered into the new year due to insurance premiums. I am thankful enough as well that I can still maintain regular payments on my own, but I will need additional assistance to ensure I can continue paying them off. Once both cards have been paid off, I plan on closing one permanently (should it not negatively impact my credit score too badly) to avoid the possibility of this happening again in the future.

Thank you for reading and stay well.
