Lend a Helping Paw to Rocky’s Retreat
Three years ago, I lost my father. I wasn’t ready and was devastated. Just four months after I said goodbye, I stumbled across the opportunity to take over a dog daycare and boarding business. Intrigued, I looked in to it further and learned that the business name was Rocky’s Retreat. In that moment, I knew that my father sent me this opportunity and would be with me always. How did I know? His dog’s name was Rocky. In October 2017, I officially took over as the new owner of Rocky’s Retreat. And I haven’t looked back since.
While we are a daycare and boarding business, we also have something unique and special to offer- an indoor heated pool for dogs, where we help with things like arthritis and hip displaysia. This is by far my favorite part of this business and I feel like it’s my heart’s work. There is something magical and rewarding about helping the dogs in their path to a better life. We also get to do fun swims with dogs, and that is always a blast!!
I am raising money because COVID-19 has severely impacted my business. My March revenue is down over 30% from the year prior and down over 40% from my projections. 5 out of my 7 employees aren’t working right now and based on our cancellation rate, they will not have any hours any time soon. GoFundMe is partnering with Yelp and Intuit QuickBooks and matching $500, if I can meet a $500 goal. I originally set the goal at $1,000, just to ensure we get there!! And then we almost hit it, so at the urging of a friend, I upped the goal to $2,000, as every single dollar can help my business and my employees right now!! I would use the money from this initiative to help keep the business afloat, and give my employees some hours to work. There is always something to do around our building, and we could take advantage of this quiet time to clean, paint, and rework our SOP‘s. We also do a lot of community work with local rescues, and this would allow us to continue to give discounts and the free swims to the rescues, which is so important during this difficult time. #smallbusinessrelief
